Welcome to my Classroom!
Quarter 2! Quarter 2! Quarter 2! I know it's tough to come back to class after a two week break, but the good thing is we have Thanksgiving and the always awesome Christmas break. Right? Let's not forget either that this is the last quarter you will have to deal with me for the school year and that's got to be worth something, right? :)
Office Hours
I'm still learning about our schedule here at Neuse River so this is a work in progress. What I will say is that if you have questions please ask. However, I do know some don't like to speak in front of others and I certainly respect that so please realize you can email me as well and ask me questions and I'll get back to you very fast as well. My email address is: [email protected]. In addition, my phone number is (919) 266-8500!
Quarter 2 Week Three
New work will be posted here each week. I do not count late points off and they need to turn it in ASAP!!
6th Grade Work:
1. Monday - Friday: Continue working in typing.com. Most likely this will be the last week for this (still a little undecided and we MIGHT do one more...stay tuned).
7th Grade Work:
1. Review Lessons 3 and 4 that should already be done.
2. Discuss and complete Lesson 5: Variables and show class some of the more difficult lessons.
3. Wednesday will be a general catch up day for students in Elective 1
4. Discuss and complete Lesson 6: Random Numbers and show class some of the more difficult lessons.
8th Grade Work: Students will do the following this week.
1. Monday and Tuesday students will design and build the start page of their own application idea.
2. Wednesday will be a general catch up day with lesson 14 and 15.
3. Thursday and Friday I'll do a student led walk through of lesson 16 so they know how to make the other screens and how to link them to each other with code.
Parent Portal!
Parents! Please sign up and check out your child's grades! I DO NOT want you to be surprised when progress reports come out. I will be sending home grade sheets at the mid-point of the quarter.
Wish List
1. Tissues
That's all! Well, a great attitude would help but who's truly happy at the beginning of school? :)
Classroom Rules
These have been sent home and should have been seen by you already so please let me know if you didn't see those sheets and I'll email you a copy.
Grading Policy
Grading Policy:
Tests/Quizzes/Projects: 45%
Classwork: 45%
Beginning Class Activities: 10%
Late Work: My goal is not to fail them. As a result, if they receive a zero because they didn’t turn in an assignment, they may still turn it in until there is a week left in the quarter. After that, it will not be accepted. In fact, I won’t even take points off as I want them to do the work and learn the material. However, I will not come hunting them down and beg them for the work. I do believe there should be some accountability and they (students) may check their grade at any time and see what they’re missing; if anything. In short, they may still turn in late work and receive full credit.
